3D Image
Digitizer
This module allows
the user to convert any flat 2D image (bmp, jpg, gif, wmf, png, clipboard)
or TWAIN import
into 3 dimensional data (X,Y,Z-intensity or X,Y,R,G,B).
The data then can be previewed as a mesh or contour plot in the 3D
Previewer
window and/or
saved
to a file
as a cdf (comma
delimited format) file. This data then can be imported into another program
(MS Excel, SigmaPlot, etc) for further analysis or transferred directly to the
built in analysis plotter. There is no limitation on the size of the image
to be imported, it will be auto sized to fit the window.
A profile
through the
horizontal
and vertical
axis can
be generated also without actually scanning the entire image. See
3D profiler.
The 3D module's main purpose is to convert images of electron or ION beam spots
and convert them into data for further analysis (such as profiling and determining
gaussian characteristics of the beam). However, the user can use their imagination
as to what other type of images would be interesting to convert into 3D, eg. signature,
logos, etc. See the following example.
Note that most menu selections are available as 'shortcut keys' such as CTRL+C
will paste a clipboard image into the digitizer window.
